Self Evaluation

Self –evaluation is now firmly rooted in the process leading up to either an inspection or an accreditation but what does it all mean?

Basically it means the school has to identify these 3 key features;

  1. What is the school doing well
  2. How does the school know it is doing well
  3. What areas need to be improved

Secondary-School-StudentsIdentifying areas of strength and weakness can be quite a daunting and time consuming experience. The easy part is the use of data such as exam statistics to determine how the school is performing in relation to other schools. Objective data like this paints a very clear picture. This data can also be used as an indicator to show how successful the pupils are as learners or how effective the teaching is, but, such data is only an indicator and it does not tell the whole story.

Analysing both teaching and learning is mainly subjective based on lesson observation, work scrutiny and pupil and staff interviews. Schools often find it difficult to look at themselves because they have no comparisons by which they can judge.

eValuEd can help in this process. Using only qualified inspectors we can provide you with the independent help that you need to ensure that judgements that are made are accurate and that paperwork to be submitted meets the necessary standards.

Evalued can also help train your staff so that they have a much better understanding of the whole process.

Preparing a school for an inspection can be an extremely stressful time for all concerned. Let Evalued relieve some of that stress.

Evalued can:

  • Check paperwork and documentation for you
  • Run staff training courses
  • Observe your school in action to give you valuable independent feedback
